No Rules

Anyone else having “fun” with winter and ready for sunnier, warmer days? I know I’m ready for skirts and sandals!

Since I had 3 snow days in the last 2 weeks, my mind did a lot of thinking. I like running a blog because it’s a place to put my thoughts out in the world, it’s a place to interact with other people, and it’s my place in the internet world to show the world who I am and what I stand for.

What I don’t like is the stipulation that I need to stick to some kind of schedule! I don’t know about you but when I read a blog, I would rather read quality content once a month rather than subpar content every other day. Most of the time, I feel like I have follow ALL the rules placed by society, even the silly ones. This eventually leads me to feeling overwhelmed and I just end up quitting because I CANNOT KEEP UP with what the newest “rule” is.

Last week, I ran across this article Sarah wrote on her blog about the “should-y” of business…where you feel like you HAVE to do something even if you don’t like the stipulation behind it or you just simply don’t like that particular task. I feel like there are no rules when it comes to how you run your blog, website, business, life. Because when we start putting rules on things (like art and writing) that are subjective, people start losing their passion and drowning in a sea of “shoulda’s.”

Some things are meant to have no rules. I challenge you to embrace someone’s interpretation of art or writing. Why? Because you are seeing straight through to the heart and learning who that person REALLY is! NO RULES HERE!

What was the last rule you broke?
